About Our RC Batteries

Gens ACE RC Batteries
Gens ACE is our flagship product range. It delivers the best performance for dollar in the product range we have tested or used. Gens ACE has a better discharge curve than any brand we sell. This means more power for longer. Gens ACE also operates at half the temperature of its counterparts. In theory, this means that it is operating more efficiently than other brands and if looked after properly, not only will it perform better in the short term, but last you months if not years longer.

Turnigy Nano-Tech RC Batteries
Turnigy Nano-Tech’s are our mid to high range battery products. They perform very well under our test conditions and operate at medium temperature, with a competitive price point. They perform and deliver more power than their Turnigy counterparts.

Turnigy RC Batteries
Turnigy is our mid range battery selection. Good performance and good life span at a very reasonable price. If you are beginning in hobby and need a battery to get your feet wet, this is an ideal place to start so that you can see how much fun your model can be!

KingMax RC Batteries
KingMax batteries are designed for the beginner or applications that don’t have high current demands. Such as RC electric, toys, indoor heli, planes and robot projects. KingMax is an ideal option for transmitter and receiver, as these applications generally demand very low currents.

Lipo Test Results
We put a few of our popular Lipo battery products and brands through a variety of test conditions to help us work out which are better than others. Four 2s (7.4v) Lipo’s where selected; Turnigy Nano-Tech 5000mah 2s 35c, Gens ACE 5000mah 7.4v 2s 40c, Turnigy 5000mah 7.4v 2s 30c and Zippy’s 7.4v 2s 4000mah 20c hard case.

The test conditions involved placing each branded battery under a 30amp load and measuring its voltage at 1 second intervals. This test measured the batteries discharge curve as it reached its full discharge voltage of 6-6.2v (3.0-3.1v per cell). In order to achieve fair and even results, more than one battery pack was tested and the results are based on an average of the total. This ensures that there were no cases of one instance of a brand that may be lower quality or a “dud”. This graph is a comparison of the average of each brands test results.

The Zippy battery, with 1000mah lower capacity will always have much much lower running time, but what is interesting was how quickly the voltage dropped and how much lower its “flat line” is, when compared to other batteries.

Overall, our results show that Gens ACE is definitely the best of the bunch, providing higher voltage as it came to its discharge state. More voltage during a discharge cycle means more power, more torque and more speed. All depending on the end application off course! Another interesting result was that the Gens ACE operated at a much lower temperature each time. What this tells us is that the battery is being put under much less pressure and if looked after, should last months, if not years longer than the rest. Bearing in mind that our test conditions were only based on a 30amp load, while most applications would reach burst currents of 3-4 times this.
